Acupuncture and herbs can help with complicated, chronic conditions. If you are managing several ongoing health issues along with possible side effects from medications, acupuncture is great at managing different symptoms at the same time. It can also help with the emotional stress that can come with chronic illness.
Lastly, many people ask me if they can come in just for general wellness because they like the way they feel so much after getting acupuncture. The answer is yes! Acupuncture can help your general wellbeing: improving energy, helping with the general stressors of life, and help prevent new problems from arising.
It’s really more accurate to say that instead of conditions, acupuncture treats clusters of symptoms.
Let’s say two people both want to get treated for a stomach ulcer.
Person A has stomach pain that gets worse when they eat food, flares up when they’re stressed and it feels bad to massage their stomach. Person B’s stomach pain feels better when their stomach is pressed and their stomach pain gets better when they eat.
Both people have stomach pain from ulcers, but we would treat it in very different ways- different acupuncture points, different herbs, different approaches for each person and their condition. Thats the beauty of Chinese medicine, its personalized to you and your needs.

How Many Acupuncture Treatments Do I Need?
While each person is unique in how they may respond to this therapy, there are some general guidelines we can use to estimate the length of treatment.
If your issue is new or acute, we can see results within 4-6 treatments.
For moderate chronic issues, expect 10-12 sessions.
For very chronic, severe issues it could take up to 20 sessions for your symptoms to resolve.
For hormonal concerns, for example fertility or menstrual issues, it is generally advised to have a course of treatment that goes for 3 of your cycles.
Generally, people will begin to feel some change within the first three treatments. If you are able to incorporate lifestyle changes or take herbs alongside acupuncture treatment, that can help speed up the process.
At your first appointment I will give you an estimate of how many treatments I think you would benefit from based on your symptoms.
